Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC™) is very different to the traditional techniques used in chiropractic. The practice of ABC™ isn’t confined to only chiropractors; other physical therapists, such as osteopaths and physiotherapists, practice it, even some medical doctors and surgeons. Chiropractic traditionally uses a high velocity (fast), low amplitude (short lever) thrust to the spine or joints to provide the adjustment. ABC™ uses a low velocity (slow), high amplitude (long lever) manipulation to correct bone alignment. Traditional chiropractic is mostly done while face down, face up or on your side while lying on the treatment couch. ABC™ is carried out mostly while standing against the wall, while some of it is done using the couch.

Massage alongside ABC is not required due to the way it alters your physical structure and muscle tension. However, if you would like a massage, please make sure you have ABC following the massage.
More specific lifestyle changes related to sitting, sleeping and footwear are also required to improve the effects of ABC and to prevent relapse; your practitioner will give you advice regarding this at your initial consultation.
ABC Care Process
The process for beginning full-body structural correction using Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC) in our Durham Clinic near Crook, involves a specific process. The first three appointments are important so that we have an in depth understanding of your complaint and prevent you from being overwhelmed with information to reduce chances of confusion or misunderstanding.

ABC Foundation Appointments £250
Between appointments 3 and 4, you’ll move through a 10-week period of ABC corrections. This stage is tailored to you, offering weekly support and ongoing care as we work towards your first review.
ABC corrections during this period are charged per visit or we have pre-paid plans available.
Initial Consultation
At this appointment, a detailed medical history will be documented, and a full physical examination will be carried out. You will also have a full-body analysis carried out using our specialist scanner, Spine3D.
This scanner will capture and measure various metrics associated with your posture, spinal shape, shoulders, pelvis, lower limbs, foot pressure and balance. This allows us to set a baseline. No corrections are carried out at this appointment.
Report of Findings Consultation
At this appointment, you will have the results of your whole-body analysis explained and put into context with your presenting symptoms. A specific care plan to address the findings of your full-body scan and presenting symptoms will also be recommended.
We will also explain the three phases of care; stabilisation, regenerative and optimisation care to help track where you are in the recovery journey. Some of the information will be delivered using video presentation. You will also receive your first set of ABC corrections at this appointment.
Body Support Consultation
At this appointment, you will be given detailed information on how to support your body while undergoing ABC. This will involve advice and guidance about sitting, sleeping, and footwear to help support your body and to improve the outcome of the recommended care plan.
We will also carry on with more ABC corrections at this appointment.
12 Week review
This is the first review point. At this appointment, you will have a second whole-body analysis carried out which will allow us to see changes and improvements since your initial consultation. At the 12-week review we usually see positive changes in body structure and symptoms.
At this stage you may also move from the stabilisation to regenerative care phase. Any relevant concerns can also be discussed and addressed at this appointment.
Next Steps
Once this inital period is complete, you will contiue with regular ABC corrections and ongoing support.
24-Week Review
By this review point you should be well on your way to having significant improvement in your body structure and your symptoms should have been gone for some time now. At this point you may move from the regenerative to optimisation care phase. Any relevant concerns can also be discussed and addressed at this appointment.

What is the focus of ABC™ ?
Over time our body’s accumulate misalignments that it needs help correcting. The focus of ABC™ is to only correct the bones that the body cannot correct itself. Your ABC™ practitioner will use tests and observation to pinpoint the exact areas where the mechanical stress is taking place and then apply a gentle adjustment to correct it.
What changes will I notice with ABC™ ?
The biggest change that you may notice after having several treatments with ABC ™, other than reduced symptoms, is that your head and spine are more upright and your shoulders are further back, all without effort. These postural changes will be apparent in the photographs that are taken before and after treatment. You will also breathe deeper.
These are just some of the observed effects that ABC™ has on the body. Of course, as with all treatment methods, the outcome is dependent on several factors such as lifestyle, job type, genetics and your ability to alter bad habits.

Is ABC™ safe for kids?
ABC is a very gentle technique and the corrections applied to kids are even more gentle. Kids are sometimes much easier than adults to treat as they have not had the same amount of time to create layers of mechanical dysfunction over the years.
What do I need to do to prepare for my ABC™ correction?
Your practitioner will explain what you need to do following your ABC correction; however, this usually consists of making changes to the way you sit, sleep and stand, where relevant, so that you create a better environment for your body to heal in and to prevent recurrence.
