At Durham Family Chiropractic, our team of chiropractors offers a wide range of chiropractic techniques to people who are looking to improve their health and well-being. Here are a couple of our most popular techniques explained.
Diversified Chiropractic Technique
Diversified technique is the most common method that chiropractors learn while at University and is the technique you will most likely experience when visiting a chiropractic clinic. Diversified means that it is a diverse method of ways to ‘adjust’ almost all of the joints in the body.

Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC)
Advanced BioStructural Correction (ABC) is a specialist method of manipulation that approaches the body in a very specific way in order to improve or restore the normal curvatures of the spine and thus restoring normal nerve and joint function. The body can then untwist itself over time, at its own pace and restore normal function and stability. is a specialist method of manipulation that approaches the body in a very specific way in order to improve or restore the normal curvatures of the spine and thus restoring normal nerve and joint function. Webster Technique
The Webster technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacroiliac joint dysfunction. In doing so, the near-biomechanical function of the pelvis is corrected. Webster technique is more commonly used in pregnancy as sacroiliac joint dysfunction may contribute to difficult labour (dystocia) caused by inadequate uterine function, pelvic contraction and baby mal-presentation.
Mulligans Hip Mobilisation
Mulligan is used when a manual therapist is wanting to get more movement through a joint while applying a gentle distraction (lengthening of the joint) stretch as well. As shown in the video, this distraction stretch is achieved using the belt pulling the leg away from the body creating a nice hip joint capsule stretch while the leg is moved up and down. Indications for this therapy include low back pain, sciatica symptoms, post-pregnancy back pain and it works really well for athletes who have hip tightness or other leg symptoms while competing. It works by stretching the tight tissues of the hip joint in deep that are harder to usually get to using hands. It also helps to make you aware of the area by stimulating these tight muscles which allow you to use the hip joint more efficiently.Chiropractors specifically offer a hands-on approach; their work is not limited to the spine. They also work with all the joints and soft tissues of the body. Improving the function of your spine and nervous system can offer help for a wide range of conditions.
