Chiropractic Outcomes: Measuring Your Progress
At Durham Family Chiropractic, we want your care to be clear, measurable and focused on helping you make meaningful progress. One of the ways we do this is using outcome measures. We currently use Chiropractic Outcomes; a system of evidence-based questionnaires designed to help monitor your symptoms, function and overall response to care.
What Are Chiropractic Outcomes?
Chiropractic Outcomes is a collection of Patient Reported Outcome Measures, often called PROMs. These are simple questionnaires that allow you to tell us how your problem is affecting you and how things are changing over time.
The system was developed by the Royal College of Chiropractors to help practice’s better understand progress and improve the level of care they provide.
These questionnaires may ask about things such as:
- Your level of pain or discomfort
- How your symptoms affect your daily activities
- How your condition is changing over time
- How likely you are to respond well to chiropractic care
- Whether your care plan needs to be reviewed or adapted

How does it work?
Before your initial visit, we will ask you to complete your first Chiropractic Outcomes questionnaire. This gives us a baseline, helping us understand how your complaint is affecting you at the beginning of care.
Further questionnaires may then be completed at different stages throughout your care (usually at 14, 30 and 90 days from starting care). This allows us to compare your responses over time and monitor whether your symptoms, function and quality of life are improving.
The questionnaires are quick and easy to complete and can usually be filled out online at home or in the practice.
The information you provide can be displayed in simple graphs and tables, which will be discussed with you during reviews or progress examinations. This helps both you and your chiropractor see how things are changing and whether your care remains appropriate.
